Yep, I realize it's been a VERY long time since I've written. Need to get this out.
It's AMAZING what a first impression - especially a physical one - is like. We've recently had some organizational shakeups at work. Our new department leader is in the office today and tomorrow from DC to meet our group in person for the first time. We had our meet and greet this morning with him, and as our group was getting settled, a couple of us were talking about volleyball. He seemed surprised - like, shocked - to hear that not only did I play volleyball twice a week during the Fall and Winter months, but upon further questioning, golfed twice a week during the summer.
Can't someone of my size can't be active in sports? Sure, look at me and automatically assume that all I do all day is eat. Come watch me play volleyball sometime - you'll find that I get to a ball much faster as a setter than one of my female teammates that is more than HALF the size I am.
I think one of the biggest reasons why I haven't dated for 15+ years is because of the above. Guys can't look past the fat. I could take care of myself more. Yep, I get that. But underneath all of these layers I have is what I think to be a kind, funny, smart woman.
